A.C.N.M. Foundation Awards The following awards have been offered by the A.C.N.M. Foundation. Detailed information about application and procedures and deadlines will be released at a later date.
Dorothea M. Lang Pioneer Award The Dorothea M. Lang Pioneer Award honors an exceptional CNM/CM who has been certified for ten years, has not been a recipient of the Hattie Hemschemeyer Award, and has demonstrated vision and leadership. Varney Participant Award Eligible applicants must be enrolled as a student in good standing in an ACNM DOA accredited basic midwifery education program, have successfully completed one academic or clinical semester/quarter or clinical module, be a current student member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). Basic Midwifery Student Scholarship The Foundation awards basic midwifery education scholarships in annually in May. The applicants are judged on academic and financial need criteria. ACNM Foundation Fellowship for Graduate Education The ACNM Foundation Fellowship for Graduate Education award is made to a midwife actively enrolled in doctoral or post-doctoral studies. W. Newton Long Award This award is intended for midwives (CNMs or CMs) seeking funding for projects which relate to the advancement of nurse-midwifery. Excellence in Teaching Award The A.C.N.M. Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award will honor one teacher in every ACNM pre-accredited/accredited education program each year. The Board of Trustees will confer the award to the candidate selected by the students in each program. One person may be selected from each program each year. The award honors excellence in teaching. 2008 Hazel Corbin/Childbirth Connection Grant for Evidence-Based Midwifery Care The Hazel Corbin/Childbirth Connection Grant for Evidence-Based Midwifery Care honors the memory and leadership of the A.C.N.M Foundation’s first President, Hazel Corbin, RN, who was also a long-time general director of the Maternity Center Association (now Childbirth Connection) and one of ACNM's first honorary members. This exciting grant will support or augment outstanding projects that foster knowledge of the safety and/or effectiveness of midwifery practices for mothers and newborns and application of this knowledge, especially projects that reflect highest international standards for evidence-based practice. High-quality applications from midwives and other professionals from a wide range of settings are welcome. Applicants must adhere to clearly described guidelines in the application. A.C.N.M. A.C.N.M. Foundation Leadership Education Fellowship Bonnie Westenberg Pedersen International Midwife Award Conceptus Incorporated Research Grant A.C.N.M. Foundation Leadership Development Award The A.C.N.M. Foundation's Leadership Development Award assists ACNM members in improving leadership skills in business management and marketing of midwifery practices. The award will be in the form of a monetary grant to help cover the costs of attending the Midwifery Business Institute in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Wyeth-Ayerst Student Reporter Program
